Wednesdays @ The Franklin Institute Student Workshops

Role: Designer-Educator at PlusUs/Form & Faculty

Client: The Franklin Institute

Year: 2015-2017

On behalf of PlusUs, I designed and implemented weekly workshops for high school students at The Franklin Institute, a premier science museum in Philadelphia.

Water and Soil Quality Workshop

In this six session class, students use local water samples and the museum’s Science Garden to explore the relationship between water quality and soil quality. Throughout the workshop, students work in teams to research environmental indicators, run observational and chemical tests, synthesize and contribute their data to an online student database. The water quality workshop is based of PlusUs’s WQI Project.

Design Thinking Workshop

In this two session class, students work in teams to explore the design process through hands on building, drawing, and interviewing exercises. The class culminates in a design sprint asking students to research, brainstorm, refine, and present a way they might improve a someone's public transportation experience.
