Perkiomen Valley Middle School Library Redesign

The vision for Perkiomen Valley Middle School’s library was evolving and needed the space to match. Once space for reference books, the library was becoming an informal gathering place to collaborate and socialize. Students used the library to hangout during free periods, meet with clubs after school, and work in groups during class periods. We worked closely with the librarians, students, and school leadership to clarify needs and design a space that would excite students, grow with the school, and stay in budget. We reorganized the space to be more inviting and responsive to individual and group learning. We invested in new flooring, repurposed existing furniture, sourced new seating, and added color and joy with low-cost solutions.
